About Us
Platform Youth Services is a growing not-for-profit based youth homelessness service, that has provided holistic services to vulnerable young people who are at risk of homelessness or who are experiencing homelessness in the Nepean, Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury areas for over 45 years.

About the role
The position of Casual Youth Worker involves providing transitory care and support to young people residing in our crisis accommodation units, including active participation in daily activities and living skills programs that increase the competencies and independence of young people, including household cooking, cleaning and other chores.
We are looking for motivated and dedicated Youth Workers to join our dynamic team who:

Selection Criteria
The minimum requirements to be considered for this role include:
- Minimum 12 months Residential Youth Work experience working with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Demonstrated understanding of Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) programs including crisis and transitional
- Sound knowledge of Child Protection Systems and Mandatory Reporting Practices
- Previous experience working in Crisis and Transitional Accommodation Programs
- Sound knowledge of living skills and ability to implement programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to work confidently with challenging behaviours within a trauma informed and Client Centred Framework.
- IT literate and able to work with client information systems.
- Ability to work a rotating roster of overnight shifts including weekends and public holidays
Qualifications, Checks and References
- Minimum cert 4 in Youth Work, Community Services or Welfare qualifications
- Evidence of Australian Citizenship or Permanent residency
- Unrestricted Current `C` class Driver’s Licence as you may be required to work across any of Platforms sites in the Nepean, Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury areas
- A valid National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification
- Two referees, including current or most recent manager.
